Inter Lagos Secure Promotion to NPFL After 1-1 Draw Against Smart City FC

Inter Lagos FC have officially secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2026/27 season after playing out a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Smart City FC in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

With this result, Inter Lagos become the second team to earn promotion to the top flight this season, following Doma United, who sealed their return earlier.

A Hard-Earned Promotion

Inter Lagos showed great character and consistency throughout the 2025/26 NNL season. The draw against Smart City FC was enough to mathematically confirm their place in the NPFL, rewarding the club’s investment and hard work at the second tier.

This marks a significant milestone for the Lagos-based club, which has steadily climbed through the ranks in recent years. Promotion to the NPFL will bring new challenges, bigger crowds, and increased visibility for the team.

- Inter Lagos will join Doma United as the two promoted teams so far from the NNL into the 2026/27 NPFL season.
