The historic tournament, branded AFCON 2027 Pamoja (meaning “together” in Swahili), will run from Friday, 19 June 2027 to Sunday, 18 July 2027.
This will be the first time three East African nations jointly host the continent’s biggest football showpiece, marking a significant milestone for the region and African football as a whole.
What This Means
- The expanded 24-team tournament will span exactly 30 days, giving teams and fans a full month of high-level competition.
- It provides East Africa with a golden opportunity to showcase its growing football infrastructure, passionate fan base, and organisational capability on the continental stage.
- The co-hosting arrangement is expected to boost tourism, infrastructure development, and youth football across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe has described the tournament as a “unifying moment for East Africa and the entire continent,” emphasising that AFCON 2027 will leave a lasting legacy beyond the pitch.
With qualification already underway for many teams, the countdown to AFCON 2027 Pamoja has now officially begun.
