Simba SC have officially escalated their bitter rivalry with Young Africans SC (Yanga) by announcing they will take the case of player Mohamed Damaro to both the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and FIFA.
The Dar es Salaam giants held a press conference today where Board Chairman Crescentius Magori strongly reiterated the club’s position.
What Simba SC Claims
Simba allege that Yanga illegally changed Mohamed Damaro’s registration to reflect Tanzanian citizenship. According to Simba, this move allows Yanga to bypass the Tanzania Premier League’s foreign player quota rules.
Club officials insist that Yanga may currently be fielding more foreign players than the regulations permit. They argue this constitutes a clear breach of league rules and gives their fierce rivals an unfair advantage.
Strong Words from Simba
Speaking during the press briefing, Chairman Crescentius Magori said the club will not back down and will pursue justice through the highest sporting institutions.
The long-standing rivalry between Simba and Yanga (popularly known as “Mbao vs Yanga”) has once again spilled over into formal complaints and potential legal action.
What Happens Next?
Both CAS and FIFA are expected to be formally notified in the coming days. If the case proceeds, it could lead to a lengthy investigation that may affect league standings, player eligibility, or even result in sanctions against Young Africans.
This development adds fresh fuel to one of African football’s most intense derbies and keeps the focus on regulatory compliance in the Tanzanian Premier League.
