KANO — The League Management Body has handed down a severe set of sanctions against Kano Pillars FC following a chaotic scene during their Matchday fixture against Rivers United on Sunday, April 19, 2026. The "Sai Masu Gida" have been found guilty of multiple breaches of the NPFL Framework and Rules, resulting in a staggering total fine of N15 million and a directive to play their next three home matches behind closed doors.
The charges stem from a complete breakdown of order at the Sani Abacha Stadium. According to the league’s official report, the club failed to provide adequate security, allowing unauthorized individuals into restricted zones. The situation escalated when supporters encroached onto the pitch, directly compromising the safety of players and match officials.
The Financial Breakdown of the Fines:
* N4 million: For repeated failure to provide effective security and failure to control restricted area access.
* N3 million: For repeated unsporting behavior by supporters that brought the game into disrepute.
* N3 million: For the harassment and intimidation of match officials.
* N3 million: For gross misconduct that undermined the integrity of the league.
* N2 million: For the disruption and delay of the match, leading to a temporary stoppage of play.
In addition to the financial blow, the stadium will fall silent for the remainder of the season. The NPFL has ordered Kano Pillars to play their next three home matches behind closed doors. This ban covers their final home game of the 2025/26 season and will carry over to the first two home fixtures of the 2026/27 campaign.
The club has been given a 48-hour window to either accept the summary jurisdiction or appeal the sanctions before the NFF Disciplinary Committee.
