JAAA Denies Ticket Row: The Truth Behind Oblique Seville’s Withdrawal from World Relays

The "Ticket Gate" Rumor

Initial reports suggested that Seville’s withdrawal was fueled by the JAAA’s refusal to cover the full cost of his business-class airfare from the United States to Botswana. However, the JAAA issued a firm rebuttal on Tuesday morning, April 28, 2026, dismissing the claims as "factually inaccurate."

The Official Reason: Scheduling Conflict**

According to a press release from the JAAA, the primary reason for Seville’s absence is a contractual scheduling conflict

* The Impasse: Seville’s management reportedly requested a return flight to Miami no later than May 4 to meet a separate obligation.

* The Logistics: The JAAA stated that due to available flight schedules out of Gaborone, the earliest guaranteed return was May 5.

* The Outcome: Failing to resolve the timeline, Seville’s manager, Norman Peart, submitted a formal withdrawal notice on April 21.

Kishane Thompson and Others Out

While the focus has been on Seville, the loss of Kishane Thompson is equally devastating for Jamaica. Thompson, who pushed Noah Lyles to the limit at the Paris Olympics, has also pulled out, along with 400m hurdles star Roshawn Clarke and rising quartermiler Tahj-Marques White.
